(Photo by Chudate Seehawong)CHAI NAT -- More than 100 broken and disused spirit houses which were dumped under a large tree on a rural roadside in Manorom district, causing an eyesore, have been removed on the orders of governor Nimit Wanchaithanawong. This followed a complaint to the mass media that, not only were they an eyesore, the broken debris and bricks of the dilapidated spirit houses could be dangerous. And there were also fears for the magical powers they might hold. District officials said the governor had also instructed the chiefs of all eight districts in the province to inspect all roads and removed any unwanted spirit houses or other garbage dumped on roadsides.
